The Lionesses are the next team to feature at Everton’s new flagship stadium as they prepare to host Ukraine Women in a World Cup 2027 Qualifier in June.

The game against Ukraine will take place at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday June 9th and will be the women’s final group-stage qualifier ahead of the tournament in Brazil.

The 2023 runners-up play their first group stage game in Group C away to Ukraine next Tuesday, in a group which also contains Iceland and holders Spain.

They then host Iceland at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on Saturday 7th March and then welcome Spain, who the Lionesses beat in the 2025 European Championship Final, at Wembley on 14th April.

England manager Sarina Wiegman said: “It is very exciting for us to be playing for the first time at Everton’s new stadium.

“The city of Liverpool has a rich football history with many connections to the Lionesses over the years, so it will be a very special feeling.

“Every game matters and this match will be the last in our qualification campaign.

“As always we’ll give our very best to play at our highest level and put ourselves in the best possible place to finish the group strongly.”

Strong start to life by the River Mersey

It will be the first time an England team plays at the Toffees’ new home.

The stadium will host Scotland men’s friendly with Ivory Coast on March 31st.

The stadium has had a bright start to life on the Mersey, having already hosted a Rugby League Ashes Test between England and Australia in November to a sell-out crowd, and will welcome the sport back when it hosts Magic Weekend on the first weekend of July.

Magic Weekend at Hill Dickinson set to be the “biggest one yet”

Earlier this week, it was also announced England will be playing Fuji in the rugby Nations Championship a week later on July 11th.

Hill Dickinson has already been confirmed as a host venue for the Men’s European Championships in 2028 and is among the 22 proposed stadiums included in the Home Nations’ bid to stage the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
