George Lavelle is hoping Lancashire can bounce back from last season’s disappointment and win the County Championship.
The 21-year-old wicketkeeper hails from Ormskirk and signed a new contract with Lancashire in early 2022.
Lancashire Lightning were pipped to the post by Warwickshire in the last campaign.
“We were all watching Somerset against Warwickshire, we were all gutted”, said Lavelle.
Despite that, the Lancashire squad aren’t letting that disappointment get them down.
“That’s been a bit of motivation over the winter, making sure we go one better”, said the young wicketkeeper.
The Lightning squad have just returned from Dubai, where they played some exhibition matches.
The red roses are now battling against the counties in pre season friendlies.
Set for an 11:30am start in Kent; we'll bat first today for 45 overs. 🏏

The twenty-one year old is aiming to nail down a first team place, and hoping to make an impact.
“I want to try and play as much first team cricket as possible this year, and scoring a few runs will help that”.
After a youth cap, he believes a senior England start is a while away, but still his ultimate goal.
“If that’s not your goal for your career you’re not doing it right”, said Lavelle.
George Lavelle has played for Ormskirk cricket club since childhood and is proud to represent the North West.
“There’s not many lads from the Liverpool way in the set up so its really nice to represent that part of the country”, said Mr Lavelle.
Lancashire will be boosted by the return of veteran swing bowler Jimmy Anderson.
“We love every time Jimmy plays with us, he’s brilliant to have around and take in what he knows”, Lavelle added.
