Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon has criticised the tempo of his team after a “disappointing” performance at Doncaster.
Rovers lost 2-0 at the Eco-Power Stadium and didn’t look like they were in the game at any point.

Ben Close and Kyle Hurst scored goals for the home side within three minutes of each other.
Mellon said: “I can’t defend much of the performance.
“The tempo of the game in the first half was slow from both teams. We came out in the second half and gave away a really cheap first goal and the second goal is just ridiculous.”
Tranmere brought a huge following to the Eco-Power Stadium, as has been the case at most away games this season.
Mellon feels as though the squad has disappointed the travelling fans.
“We lacked urgency and lacked quality all over the pitch”
He said: “We bring a really good support over, and never really represented them well enough.
“The first half is a bit of nothingness from both teams. We never found a way to get going or getting to the tempo of doing the kind of stuff that has made us a good team in games gone by.
“We lacked urgency and lacked quality all over the pitch.”
Tranmere failed to get anything going at any point in the game. Micky Mellon said that the performance at Doncaster was down to him.
Because of the loss, Rovers failed to close the gap to the play-offs, with teams above them now having games in hand.
He said: “My responsibility as a manager is to see it before the game and I thought we were ready.
“We knew the importance of the game and the opportunity it gave us to close gaps above us.
“We let the game fizzle away and we gave away two really cheap goals which is not like us again. We’re really disappointed with the performance.”
