Former Oxford United manager Karl Robinson is favourite to take the Tranmere Rovers job following the sacking of Micky Mellon.
This is according to the website bettingodds.com, who have him at 2/1 odds.
Stagnant form led to Mellon’s dismissal, with Tranmere sitting 14th in League Two and only six wins since October 2022.
Mark Palios, Tranmere Rovers chairman said: “From both a personal and a club perspective this hasn’t been an easy decision.
“I reluctantly came to the conclusion that a change was needed as we start recruitment preparations for next season.”
Robinson is out of job after spending the last five years with Oxford United and was sacked last month following eight games without a win.
His first managerial stint was with Milton Keynes Dons. Robinson was in charge when the dons famously beat Manchester United 4-0 in the EFL cup in 2015.
At 42, Karl Robinson is one of the youngest managers in the football league, yet he still has 13 years of managerial experience which may bring a fresh perspective to a struggling Tranmere side.
Other names that have been mentioned are former Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley and former Crewe Alexandra manager, David Artell.
Rovers play Colchester away from home this Saturday in their first game of the season without Mellon.
Interim manager Ian Dawes will take charge of the team as they look for a permanent manager.
