Andy Crosby sees Tranmere’s first home game of the year as an opportunity to remedy issues from the first half of the season.
The Tranmere boss admits inconsistency at Prenton Park has been an issue, despite his side producing strong performances away from home.
“We’ve been too inconsistent in the first half of the season,” Crosby told MerseySportLive.
“We’ve played well and we’ve got some good results, but generally that’s been away from home.”

Rovers kicked off 2026 with a convincing 2-0 away win to Harrogate Town and are hoping to carry this momentum into tomorrow’s clash against current league leaders Bromley.
Crosby said: “Any manager, any player wants to play well at home. It’s where the majority of our supporters come to watch us play, and we’re all disappointed with our home form in the first half of the season.
“We can do something about it. Myself, the players, the supporters, it’s a collective effort to make sure our home form in the second half of the season is better.”
Crosby believes better home form will boost Tranmere up the table, especially with League Two’s mid-table looking so close. The White’s currently sit 17th, between Oldham Athletic and Gillingham who are all on 32 points.
Crosby said: “If we can improve and maintain our performances, along with the points that we’ve collected away from home, then there’s more than enough left in this season for us to go on a good run and challenge (other teams).”
Tranmere have struggled with injuries this season, with a number of key players all suffering long-term contact issues, the majority being defenders.
The Tranmere boss said: “I think we’ve used nearly double figures in centre-back partnerships this season, which hasn’t helped us.
“Jordon Turnbull came off against Harrogate (Town) and is going to be ruled out for a minimum of three months, so another injury to a centre-back. It seems like it’s been one after another.”
Tranmere’s defensive woes may prove problematic tomorrow as they look to stop Bromley’s Michael Cheek, who has netted the most away goals this season, seven in 12 away games.
Despite injury worries and a poor home record thus far, Crosby is confident his team will continue to make progress.
“It’s about moving forward,” he said. “Let’s crack on!”
