Pete Wild insists that League 2 safety is “not done” despite his side’s 3-1 win against Cheltenham at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
It was Tranmere’s first win since February 14, thanks to goals from Nathan Smith, Jayden Joseph, and Omari Patrick.
The result leaves Tranmere four points clear of the relegation zone with only two games to go.
Tranmere boss Wild told the club’s YouTube channel: “We’ve been under pressure for weeks on end. And now it chucks the pressure back on them [the teams below].
“It’s not done. It’s clearly not done yet. We have to go to MK Dons and dust them down and try and get them to go again.
“It’s going to be a tough, tough ask against a team that can get promoted.”
Wild changed the formation to a 4-3-3 at halftime after he felt that Cheltenham were in control.
He said: “They pinned us in, and it was a frustrating goal [to concede]. We seem to gift goals, don’t we?
“I said let’s go and get after them. Let’s go 4-3-3. Let’s see if it works for 15 minutes, we can get back into the game and we did.”
Wild said that his side have shown signs recently that they have what it takes, and he’s happy to see that coming together.
Wild said: “They showed snippets they can do it and now they’re starting to put that together, which is very pleasing because we were running out of time.
“We endure some tough, tough days. We’re all in football for those five per cent moments, and there’s one of the five per cent tonight.
In bad news for Tranmere, Wild confirmed that Lee O’Connor and Patrick Brough will miss the rest of the season through injury.
