Tranmere move four points clear of the relegation zone after a 3-1 win against Cheltenham at the EV Charger Points Stadium.
Goals from Nathan Smith, Jayden Joseph, and Omari Patrick were the difference for Tranmere, after Cheltenham opened the scoring through George Miller.
Tranmere made three changes from their last match, with Charlie Whitaker, Stephan Negru and Ryan Watson coming into the team.
Cheltenham made five changes from their 1-0 win against Newport on Saturday.
Cheltenham nearly opened the scoring after 14 minutes when Jonathan Tomkinson’s cross found Miller, but his header was off target.
Ethan Bristow delivered an excellent ball into the area in the 25th, but an important touch denied Kaiyne Woolery, and it went out for a corner.
The resulting corner was cleared only to find skipper Sam Finley on the edge of the box, and his volley forced a good save by Joe Day.
Miller gave Cheltenham the lead in the 40th minute after Finley’s misplaced header put the striker through on goal, and he calmly slotted past Marko Marosi.
Tranmere equalised in the 47th minute after Watson’s deflected shot fell kindly to Smith, who scored from close range.
The Rovers continued to mount the pressure, and Woolery showed good feet in the 55th minute, but his long-range effort was well saved by Day.
Just a minute later, Negru’s header from a corner was close to giving Tranmere the lead, but it was just wide of the target.
Tranmere took the lead spectacularly in the 64th minute after Negru’s cross-field pass found Joseph on the right flank, and his volleyed cross lobbed Day to find the back of the net.
Tranmere made it 3-1 in the 85th minute after Joseph’s driving run and low cross found Patrick in the box for a tap-in.
Next up for Tranmere: a trip to second-placed MK Dons.
