Everton Under-21s exuberance shone as a vibrant performance by the young Toffees sank The Brewers 2-0.

The Blues replaced their opponents at the top of Northern Group E in the Leasing.com Trophy last night (1st October).

Everton’s first goal came through striker Ellis Simms racing through early on to put the Toffees ahead as he pounced to slot home from a lovely through ball courtesy of the ever-impressive Anthony Gordon.

After an elongated spell of pressure in the second half, Anthony Evans poached Everton’s second of the night from a rebounded Harry Charsley effort, to put the game beyond doubt for David Unsworth’s men.

Everton Under-21s face Crewe Alexandra in their next Leasing.com Trophy fixture, with a trip to Gresty Road on Wednesday 6th November.

But first, the young Blues will look to keep their unbeaten run intact, as they take on Derby County in the Premier League 2 at Pride Park (Friday 18th October).

Highlights from the match can be found on the EFL’s official YouTube channel.
