This weekend saw a number of St. Helens Sutton A.C. athletes take part in races across the North West.

Friday night saw Jade Smith and Matt Crehan head to Lancaster for the latest Power of 5K race, with Jade keeping her 100% PB success rate at the race up, as she knocked six seconds off her 5km PB 18:24.

Crehan ran an impressive solo 14:38, breaking his own course record by 10 seconds and finishing a minute ahead of the field in 1st place.

Saturday then saw the next match in the Liverpool & District League held at the brutally hilly and muddy Beacon Park in Skelmersdale.

Jon-Jo Doherty was first back for the club narrowly missing on chasing down Ross Harrison of LPS by just 4 seconds.

Ste Anders was next back in 11th, followed by Jake Healy (23rd), Chris Birkett (27th), Matt Blake (60th) and Chris Reed in (82nd). With the team finishing in 4th place overall.

Sunday saw a host of juniors take on the next Manchester Area XC, oddly held at Arrowe Park on the Wirral.

In the U11 Boys, the team of Theo Cotter, Ben Genner, Ethan Colley and Eliagh Colley put in a great performance.

Nicola Anders was the only U11 Girl to compete for the club having a fantastic run over the mud.

In the U13 Boys, the team had 5 athletes competing: Gabriel Mullen, Will Vose, Liam Johnson, Joseph Colley and Charlie Griffiths.

While in the U13 Girls, Lilly Birkett was first back for the team followed by Niamh Warring and Chloe-Leigh Mark.

There were only two boys competing in the U15 race. Michael Dobson finished inside the top 15, followed home by Thomas Sumner.

Lucy Clitheroe ran well in the U15 Girl’s race, and Charlie Roberts finished 4th in the U17 Men’s race.

Over in the sun of Lanzarote, John Appleton and Ian Costello took part in the Lanzarote 10km.

Costello finished 42nd with a time of 00:41:58 and Appleton finished 61st with a time of 00:44:36.
