Despite a strong first-half performance, Litherland failed to capitalise on their dominance and fell to a 2–0 defeat against Longridge Town.
It’s been a challenging season for the Remy, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just seven points, having managed only two wins all campaign.
Litherland controlled the opening 45 minutes and went close on several occasions. Forward Charlie Glennon tested the Longridge goalkeeper with a long-range effort on the stroke of half-time, but the chance was well saved.
The second half told a different story as Longridge grew into the game and Litherland began to run out of steam. The visitors broke the deadlock with 25 minutes remaining and, from that point on, never looked like surrendering their lead.
Mersey Sport Live’s Jack Cheseldine has been getting reaction.
