Steven Gerrard has become the odds on favourite to become the next Burnley manager after Scott Parker left the club by mutual consent this morning.

Parker won promotion from the Championship last season, but has now departed following the side’s relegation from the Premier League.

The odds for former Liverpool star Gerrard are currently 1/2 with fellow former Liverpool player Craig Bellamy second favourite at 6/1.

Gerrard has been out of work since he left Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in January 2025.

He last worked in the premier league from November 2021 to October 2022 at Aston Villa, where he left with a 32% win ratio.

Gerrard’s most successful managerial stint came with Rangers, where he won the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership title, ending nine years of Celtic dominance.

The second favourite for the job, Craig Bellamy, is the current Wales boss and has previous links to the Lancashire club.

Bellamy spent two years at Burnley as the assistant coach to now Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany, in a period where the club saw promotion to the Premier League.
