Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Allison have been named in this year’s 30 man Ballon d’Or shortlist.

It’s no surprise due to current form and their Champions League victory why so many of The Reds team has been included in the list. Once again seen as one of the “European Powerhouses,” Liverpool fans would love to have one of their own recognised as the best in the world players take home the trophy on the 2nd December.

Liverpool’s seven men on the list are the most players on the list from one Premier League club. The other Premiership players included are Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva from last year’s Premier League title winners Manchester City and Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min from Tottenham. Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also appears on the list as well as last year’s winner Luka Modric.

Other notable names included so far are Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Robert Lewandowski and Neymar with Lionel Messi and other nominees to be announced later this evening.

Only one Liverpool player has ever won the coveted trophy before that being Michael Owen in 2001 where he and his teammates won the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and finished third in the league in one of the best seasons in recent history.

Virgil Van Dijk is tipped as one of the favorites after winning the European Player of the Year award. However, if the Dutchman was to do what no one for Liverpool has in 18 years he’ll have to fend off some of the most recognizable names in football.
