On the back of another memorable FA Cup journey, Marine turn their attention back to the league as the Mariners welcome City of Liverpool to Rossett Park.
“City of Liverpool will be a tough game, Ellison’s teams are always up for it. They’re always good, good side and well organised,” claimed Neil Young to Merseysportlive.
City of Liverpool FC sit 13th in the Northern Premier League West Division with 13 points from 11 games.
Marine have enjoyed a much better start to the season, sitting 4th with 24 points from 10 games.
Five points from the three games in hand could see the Mariners go top.
“We’ve now got to concentrate on the league, that’s been our main concern going forward even before the FA Cup,” said Young.
“The league has to be the priority, we’re not going to win the FA Cup, let’s be honest – not this year anyway!”
Marine will go from strength to strength off the back of two tough FA Cup encounters against three leagues above Wrexham, and will hope to bring the form back into the league.
“Finally we’re getting some players back,” said Young.
“Dean Winnard is fit, David Lynch is fit, so we are getting players back.”
Young insists he is looking to improve the squad whenever and wherever he can, promotion this season is the goal.
“There are one or two other players we are looking to bring into the football club.
“We’ve just got to make sure now, as I said, we lick our wounds, ahead of a very tough game on Saturday.”
With just 20 miles between the two clubs, Saturday’s game promises to be a mouth-watering, fiery contest.
