Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has dismissed suggestions he could return to Premier League management, despite reports linking him with a move back to English football.
Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, told Transfermarkt that the German has continued to attract interest from top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, even though he previously made clear he would not manage another team in England.
He said: “Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the US or England national teams. Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.
“Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries haven’t stopped.”
However, Manchester United and Chelsea have both denied making any approach for Klopp, either directly or through an agent, Press Association understands.
Klopp spent nine years at Liverpool, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup during a hugely successful spell at Anfield.
He stepped down at the end of the 2023-24 season, saying he needed a break from management after an intense period in charge.
Klopp is now Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group and Kosicke has insisted a return to coaching is not currently on the agenda.
“At the moment, I don’t see that happening, because he’s very happy with his new role and in this environment,” he said.
Klopp also reinforced that stance last month while speaking to reporters in Leipzig, suggesting he has no immediate plans to return to the dugout.
He said: “I don’t expect to change my mind, but I don’t know.
“It might sound arrogant, but I know I can coach a football team. But I don’t need to do it until my last day.”
