Chadderton ran out 3-2 victors on the road at Jericho Lane in the North West Counties Premier Division.

South Liverpool suffered their third consecutive defeat despite a late rally, threatening a comeback.

Chadderton piled early pressure on the home side with a lightning-quick counter attack that was stopped by Kasey Smith’s last-ditch slide tackle.

The visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark, with striker Adam Dale tapping the ball home, capitalising on a South Liverpool mix-up in the box.

Minutes after the opener, chaos ensued with Chadderton’s Tawab Djankpata being wiped out on the counter attack before being hit by the ball on the floor, causing a brawl to break out.

Djankpata was the danger man for the visitors in the first 30-minutes and a constant threat to the South backline.

Chadderton netted their second of the afternoon through Lewis-Simon Byrne, who escaped his marker in the left channel before dispatching his shot beneath the keeper.

Kain Dean made it three before halftime with a penetrating run through the South midfield before rifling it into the top left corner from range, leaving goalkeeper William O’Carroll with no chance.

The game slowed after the break, with Chadderton keeping the home side at arm’s length as South looked to up the tempo and find a goal.

Owen Dursley was the first to threaten a comeback with his headed effort crashing against the crossbar as Chadderton edged closer to victory.

Substitution Sullivan Barker gave South a lifeline in the closing stages, holding the ball up on the left wing before dancing through three defenders and smashing his effort past the goalkeeper.

Martin Ryman’s side wasted no time in finding a second, as another substitute, George Murray, struck a half-volley that made its way through a crowded box and into the back of the net, plunging Chadderton’s victory hopes into doubt.

The hosts had an additional four minutes to find an equaliser, coming agonisingly close following a throw-in.

But Morgan Bacon claimed the header and all three points for Chadderton.

After the full-time whistle, emotions spilt over as both sides clashed for a final time before being pulled apart, concluding the afternoon.
