Tyler Morton has attracted interest from a Premier League club following his impressive start at Olympique Lyonnais.
Reports from France suggest Crystal Palace are monitoring the the Wirral-born midfielder’s progress at Lyon as they are looking for a replacement for Adam Wharton, who has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.
Morton, 23, moved to French club from Liverpool last summer for a deal worth up to €15 million. And a move back to the Premier League could be lucrative for the Reds who built in a 20 percent sell on clause when they sold Morton.
Since moving to France, he has cemented himself as a first team starter. His first goal for the club proved to be the winning one when Lyon beat Lille 1-0 in match-week 6.
The Ligue 1 side have made a solid start to the season, winning four of their opening five games and look to be competing for European places.
Besides his one match suspension, following a red card at Rennes, he has started every game in the league and become something of a cult hero.
Morton registered his first assist of the season against Paris Saint-Germain, with a terrific ball to fellow Englishman Ainsley Maitland-Niles who executed a lobbed finish to perfection.
French media have been full of praise of the England U21 international, with journalist Arnaud Hermant telling L’Equipe du soir: “I didn’t know Morton and I like him a lot because I think he is a star-in-the-making.
“A pop star or English pop rock. There was a slip-up [red card] at Rennes but otherwise I think he’s very intelligent in what he does, as well as in his movements, he’s technically fine, the goal puts it in well, he makes passes. For me, he’s a really good player.”
Before his move to Les Gones, the Wallasey player was in and out of the Liverpool first-team but was desperate to have a regular place in the starting XI.
After two loan spells with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, he made the move to Lyon in search of regular football, signing a five-year-deal.

Since making a positive impression after 15 appearances in all competitions this season, the U21 Euros 2025 winner has attracted the attention of Palace.
The south London club have their own midfield maestro in Wharton but are preparing for his departure as he looks ever likely to leave the club.
According to French media outlet, Jeunes Footeux, Palace are now closely monitoring Morton’s performances.
After Lyon’s financial woes this year, it would be hard for them to turn down a lucrative offer should Palace make the move.
Back in June, Lyon faced administrative relegation, but the decision was overturned on appeal, and they were allowed to compete in the French top league for 2025/26 season.
However, their financial problems remain, and it begs the question will they cash in on the young English midfielder in the summer or even in January?
